I recently started a study through the book of Psalms, and I’ve been trying to write a new song (or at least a chorus) for each chapter. I’ve been enjoying this project and thought I’d share it with anyone who might want to catch a daily Psalm even in a small dose.

Psalm 1 is a beautiful metaphor for living a blessed life. A blessed person is like a tree that is planted by the water of God’s presence. He meditates and delights in God’s law which is summarized like this: Love him wholeheartedly and love all people. I want to love the Lord with my affection, obedience, and sacrifices. God’s love is a steady stream. It never runs out. It never leaves us wanting. The more we drink from this love, the more content we become.

“but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.”

Psalms 1:2-3

Lyric:

I will rest in the shadow

Of your unfailing love

Safely in the shelter of your wings

I will drink from the fountain

That will never run dry

Rest by your steady stream
